I hope you will watch at least the most recent recorded info call - we talked a lot about my own evolution in relationship with money, being judged, and how we came to offer a 12 month engagement with a pay-what-you-can format. It’s been a journey!

As teachers, instructors, trainers of horsemanship, our instruction is incomplete until we educate our students on “feel.” But what is “feel?” How do you activate and facilitate “feel” within yourself and for your students?

I totally agree with the phrase "you can't teach feel," but not for the reason you might think...

The sense that people call "feel" or "intuitive knowing" is already part of all of us. You can't "teach" something that already exists... You can't teach someone to "get" something they already have.

What you CAN do is help people recognize where their own innate sense of feel is already working. With that awareness, you can then provide tools, guidance and perspectives that help them expand into what is already natural to them.

Consciously or unconsciously, humans are almost constantly measuring life on multiple scales. Whether it’s time, money, having more or less, comparisons tend to run human society. Horses and the rest of life, not so much.

When this kind man thought about asking his horse to check his watch, he burst out in laughter, realizing the absurd demand he was making of his horse, that the horse should have realized that just five minutes back at the barn didn’t mean we were staying there. I was so grateful for his laughter and understanding.

That even resulted in a shift in how he asked his horse to move away from the barn. He began to realize that the horse has different priorities, different drivers than the schedule his polo community wanted him to follow. He softened.

On our own journey of awakening, awareness, softening and evolving, what if the part of us that draws us forward is more like a horse than we think?

The mind will look around for comparisons and try to rely on familiar systems and motivations to match whatever seems to be the right thing to compare to. It might say, “So and so had an easier time dropping their ego than I do - I need to hurry up and get better at that.” But what if that approach is like asking a horse to check their watch? What if the the part of you that needs your attention can’t be found in comparison with “So and so”?

I have found a lot of wisdom in the phrase “go only as fast as the slowest part of you.” This orientation leaves space to recognize where things are sailing, and where things are sticky. One isn’t better than another, and we can discover that reality when we are willing to embrace what requires slowness rather than a race to problem-solve and overcome.

With some experience, you might find a real contentment in relationship with the slow parts of yourself. When they are seen, acknowledged and embraced, you might look around and notice that life is still happening! Evolution and love are still moving at their own pace that has never excluded you. And while you slowed down to meet the parts asking for more attention, the whole universe shifted to accommodate the time and space you needed.

With the slow parts scooped up, held in love and now ready to integrate with the rest of you, just watch as timing takes care of itself! What you may have thought would never happen is suddenly happening! And then, you realize, that everything you’ve wanted has been happening all along.
